Our Commitment
R2 Digital Library follows a minimal-collection, reader-privacy-first policy consistent with the ALA Library Bill of Rights and GDPR Article 5. We collect only what is necessary to deliver licensed content and comply with our publisher agreements.
What We Collect
- Authentication data (IP address, SAML assertion attributes, institution identifier)
- Content access logs required for COUNTER 5.1 reporting (anonymized at the user level)
- User-provided profile data (name, email) when a personal profile is created
- Private annotations, bookmarks, and highlights you explicitly save
What We Never Do
- Sell, rent, or share user reading history with third parties
- Build advertising profiles from your reading activity
- Track you across other websites or services
- Retain identifiable reading logs beyond 90 days without explicit consent
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time through your account settings or by contacting our data protection officer at privacy@r2library.example.
Cookies & Tracking
We use only strictly necessary cookies for authentication and session management. No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies are loaded on the reader interface.
Changes to This Policy
Material changes will be announced at least 30 days in advance via email to institutional administrators and on-platform notices to active users.
