Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about access, licensing, features, and support

How do I access the R2 Digital Library?
Most institutions provide automatic access while you are on-campus or on the institutional network (IP-based). Off-campus users authenticate via SAML single sign-on, OpenAthens, or SeamlessAccess. Contact your librarian if you have trouble connecting.
Is the content peer-reviewed?
Yes. All titles in the R2 Digital Library are sourced from established medical, nursing, and allied health publishers and undergo each publisher’s editorial and peer-review process.
Can I download chapters or export citations?
You may read chapters in-platform and export citations in RIS, BibTeX, and NLM formats. Downloading full chapters depends on your institution’s license terms with each publisher.
How many concurrent users are allowed?
Concurrent access is defined per-title based on your institution’s license. When a title is at capacity, you will see a turnaway message. Turnaways are logged and reported to your librarian for license optimization.
Are usage statistics available to librarians?
Yes. The platform provides COUNTER 5.1 compliant reports (TR, DR, PR, IR) in both JSON and TSV formats via the admin dashboard and the SUSHI REST API.
Do you integrate with discovery services and link resolvers?
Yes. We provide KBART feeds for knowledge bases (EBSCO, Ex Libris, OCLC), MARC 21 records for catalogs, and OpenURL 1.0 linking for link resolvers.
Is the platform accessible?
Yes. The R2 Digital Library conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. A current VPAT 2.4 is available on request from our accessibility page.
How is my privacy protected?
We follow a minimal-collection privacy policy. Reading activity is never sold or shared. See our privacy page for details on what we log and how long we retain it.
Can I save bookmarks, notes, and highlights?
Yes. Create a personal profile (tied to your institutional account) to save bookmarks, notes, highlights, and searches across all your sessions and devices.
What if I find incorrect content?
Contact your librarian or email our content team via the contact page. We coordinate corrections with the original publisher and update affected chapters promptly.
